Teen Leaders Club, For Middle & High School Students

Open to Bellefonte, Bald Eagle & Penns Valley Residents.

Meetings are held during the school year on Monday evenings (during the school year) at the Bellefonte Branch from 7:00-8:30 PM.

Leaders Club focuses on leadership training, personal growth, service to others, and social development. Requirements for club participation include being a YMCA member, completing volunteer work throughout the year, being an excellent role model at all times, and participating in club meetings and events.

The club plans and participates in various events such as the community service, social activities, fund raisers, regional teen rallies, and PACAA Teen Leadership Training School.

Go Global, Grades 8-12
First Tuesday of Every Month
at the State College YMCA

Go Global is a service learning program that engages teens personal growth and discovery surrounding cultural awareness. Those who participate in the program will be attending local cultural events and service learning projects with the opportunity to travel with the YMCA International Global Teens Program. This program will allow each teen to gain international experience with service abroad. Come gain a deepened sense of the social issues impacting our world and explore methods for positively contributing to our global community.

Co-Ed Beginner Lacrosse

Learn this popular and time-honored sport that is enjoyed by millions. This program is being developed to teach the basics of Lacrosse to boys and girls ages 10-14. Extreme Teen Camp

June 18-21, 2012
For Ages 13-17

The camp will give the opportunity for teens to learn leadership skills, water safety, camping safety, teamwork, and have an extreme adventure. During the camping trip to Ohiopyle State Park, we will be whitewater rafting, hiking to waterfalls, and enjoying all the park has to offer.

Schedule, Locations & Times

Monday, June 18 – 9:00-4:00 PM – State College Branch: Water Safety & Survival Guides

Tuesday, June 19 – 9:00 AM – State College Branch, Depart for Ohioyple State Park

Wednesday, June 20 – Whitewater Rafting, Camping at Ohiopyle

Thursday, June 21 – return to the State College Branch by 3:00 PM. Parent pickup by 4:00 PM.

Overnight Camping

Teens will be sleeping overnight at the State Park in the Group Tenting area for two nights. There will be bathroom and shower facilities for our usage. Note that teens must pass a simple swim test on Monday at the YMCA so that they can go whitewater rafting.

Registration

Must be completed in person at the YMCA by teen’s parent/guardian. Health appraisals are required for attendance. A non-refundable deposit of $30 must be made at the time of registration. Remaining balance is due June 17. Cancellation Deadline is June 5 or all funds paid are forfeited.

What to Bring

Monday: lunch, snacks, water, swimsuit, towel.
Tuesday-Thursday: All necessary camping gear and items will be announced on Monday.
