    Bellefonte Branch Babysitting Policies

    • In the event of school closing, due to bad weather, the morning Child Watch will be closed. In the event of a two hour delay please call after 8:00 a.m. (357-8000) to check on availability. Evening Child Watch will be open unless the entire YMCA facility closes early.
    • If there are no children in Child Watch 45 minutes prior to closing we will begin our clean-up and close early.
    • Children must be signed in and out by their parent/guardian. Children will only be released to the parent who signed the child in unless permission is given by the parent before they leave and proper identification is shown.
    • It is mandatory that all parents must sign in your child(ren) every time your child is in our care. If you do not sign-in your child will not be allowed to stay in our Child Watch department.
    • Please complete one of our information forms for each child. This will be kept on file for future reference. A new form should be completed every 6 months or as your child’s needs change.
    • Please do not bring you child(ren) if they are ill. This includes persistent coughing and/or a green yellow nasal discharge.
    • Due to allergies, do not bring any peanut products into the Child Watch room.
    • Due to the limited number of children that can be in the Child Watch at one time we ask that you please observe the one hour time limit. If you need additional time such as 15 to 30 minutes maximum please check-in with the staff to see if they are able to accommodate the additional time.
    • We make every effort to have staffing for our Child Watch department. There is occasion that we may only have one staff available which limits the number of children to 6 allowable in the room at one time.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
    • If you bring children that are not yours their parents must be members and we will need a signed note from the parent acknowledging that it is okay for their children to be at the YMCA’s Child Watch.
    • We will only change diapers when absolutely necessary.

Open Doors / Financial Assistance Program
YMCA of Centre County - Membership

The YMCA of Centre County is a not-for-profit health and human services organization committed to helping people grow in spirit, mind, and body. Founded and supported by its community, the YMCA wants all of its programs and services to be accessible to everyone in the community regardless of age, background, ability, or income. It is with this spirit that the YMCA is proud to introduce the Open Doors Program.

The Open Doors Program allows individuals and families to obtain a  membership at a reduced rate based on your household’s total income. You could qualify for anywhere from 10 to 80 percent off the membership rate depending on your financial situation.

An Open Doors application can be obtained at either one of our YMCA branches. All of your information on the completed application and other documentation is kept completely confidential. Open Doors is our way of ensuring that YMCA programs and services are accessible to everyone. Once you complete the application, you will be on your way to becoming our newest YMCA member.

As an Open Doors member of the YMCA, you receive the same benefits as other members. You can feel great knowing that you are involved in an organization that cares greatly for the health and well-being of the community and is committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

What if your financial situation changes over time? The YMCA wants to make sure that your rate reflects that change. Therefore, every year on your membership anniversary date, your status will be re-evaluated. We will contact you ahead of time to give you ample opportunity to gather the pertinent information.

All memberships made possible through the Open Doors Program are subsidized by the YMCA’s Strong Kids Annual Support Campaign. Many generous donors, and even recipients of the program, contribute annually so that we can keep our doors open for all. Because the Y is for everyone!
