Student Youth Theatre (SYT) Program

Mid-Winter Show: GOLDILOCKS ON TRIAL!

Auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday November 13th & 14th. We will hold open auditions for all ages from 6:00-7:30 pm. Audition Packets will be available by November 1st and the audition location will be announced at that time.

Synopsis: Goldilocks is on trial for breaking and entering. Will she be found guilty and sent to prison, or will the truth come out? It’s up to Judge Wallabee and some very silly jurors to decide, after hearing testimony from Goldee, the bickering Three Bears, and surprise witness Merwin the Big Bad Wolf, among others…

The Moshannon Valley YMCA Student Youth Theatre is committed to providing excellent, accessible theatrical training for youth, with professional-quality performances for the Central PA region. This program seeks to develop and encourage every child’s talent, confidence, and potential through singing, acting, dance, and other art forms. The program strives to encourage public appreciation of the performing arts and to develop future audiences and supporters of the Performing Arts.

The SYT program has been very successful and has created an avenue to bring students together from many area school districts and created a common goal of theatre. SYT does major production each summer. Past productions include: Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, A Broadway Review, and Fiddler on the Roof.

Drew Baker, SYT Coordinator/Artistic Director has been in charge of the program for over two years and brings experience and talent to his position. Volunteers are crucial to the success of the SYT program, filling positions in costuming, marketing, concession, fundraising, set design/construction and much more. SYT has a musical coordinator, pit band and pit band director for their productions.
