What is Pioneer Basketball?

The Pioneer program is designed to teach boys and girls basketball fundamentals in a fun environment. Every participant gets to play a minimum of half of each game. Practices begin the week of November 27, 2017 with games beginning January 6, 2018. A total of eight games are played with the program ending in late February.

Cost: Grades K-2 $75 Member/$90 Non-Member
Grades 3-6: $85 Member/$100 Non-Member


Season Schedule

  • November 3 – Registration Deadline
  • November 12 – Evaluation Day for Boys and Girls Grades 3-6 from 1-5 (no evaluation day for grades 2 and under)
    • Boys Grades 3-4 1:00 pm
    • Boys Grades 5-6 2:00 pm
    • Girls Grades 3-4 3:00 pm
    • Girls Grades 5-6 4:00 pm
    • (Grades K-2 do not attend evaluation)
  • Week of Nov 27 – Practice Begins
  • January 7 – Games Begins
  • January 13 – Team Photos

Volunteer Coaches Needed

Volunteer Coaches Needed Volunteers are an integral part of the Pioneer Basketball program. Under the guidance of the Sports Director, coaches teach fundamental skills while maintaining a fun and encouraging environment. If you are interested in becoming part of the Pioneer team, stop by the Y for an application.

Head Coach Responsibilities (must be age 18 or older):

  • Complete application
  • Agree to a criminal history/background check
  • Attend a pre-season meeting (November 10 at 6:00 PM)
  • Attend player evaluations (grades 3-6 only)
  • Maintain contact with players/parents and assistant coach
