2013 REGISTRATION INFORMATION BEGINS FEBRUARY 25, 2013 AT 7:00 AM!

All registrations must be done in person at the YMCA.  Parents are strongly encouraged to pick up and complete a registration packet prior to coming in to the YMCA on February 25.

Summer Camp Handbook 2013

All campers are required to be YMCA members at the time of registration. (Membership information is available online at www.ymcaofcentrecounty.org.)  All campers must have a completed health appraisal form on file by June 3, 2013.

A non-refundable deposit of $30.00 per week is required for registration.

Session balance must be paid by the Monday ONE WEEK PRIOR to the sessions attending or risk losing the space at camp.

A THREE WEEK NOTICE OF CANCELLATION MUST BE GIVEN TO RECEIVE CREDIT. Please note that the cancellation schedule is included in the parent handbook.

CAMP EXPLORERS & TRAILBLAZERS

Activities include swimming, sports, music, clubs, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and guest speakers.  Each week features a special theme as well as a unique field trip. Trailblazers will go on an additional field trip each Friday.
Regular Hours: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Extended Hours: 7:30 AM-5:30 PM

CAMP TUSSEY MOUNTAIN*

This camp is for children who love the outdoors. The camp features fishing, hiking, swimming, sports, golf, clubs, and environmental studies. Each week features a theme and a field trip.
Regular Hours: 8:45 AM-4:00 PM
Extended Hours: 7:30 AM-5:30 PM

*All campers are to be at the YMCA by 8:45 AM. They will be transported to Tussey Mountain in a school bus and returned to the YMCA at 4:00 PM. (Times may vary on field trip days—check the weekly newsletter for details.)

TUSSEY does NOT run Week 10 (Aug 19th-23rd). Parents are encourage to sign up for Trailblazers for that week.

 

LEADERS-IN-TRAINING (LIT) PROGRAM

Youth who are 13 and older can apply to be a LIT with the summer day camp. LITs assist camp counselors with all aspects of day camp. The program teaches counseling techniques, group dynamics, camp programming, and leadership skills.

COUNSELORS-IN-TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM

Teens that have been a LIT at the State College Branch for 2 years have the option of applying to be a CIT. CITs assist in the supervision of LITs in addition to performing LIT duties.

TO BECOME A LIT/CIT…

Apply at the YMCA by April 8, 2013 Attend mandatory training First Aid and CPR Certifications Required All LITs & CITs must be YMCA members.
Schedule will be based on number of applicants and availability.

SPECIAL ADDITIONS / NOTES

We will be providing care for the week of June 10th thru 14th if school is out early.

All camps attend the listed field trips.

All field trips are on Wednesdays except Weeks 9 & 10

Trailblazers have an additional local field trip every Friday.

Trailblazers Overnight Lock-In scheduled for Week 8.

Tussey Overnight Lock-In scheduled for Week 7.

Families in need of financial assistance are asked to apply for the Open Doors program by February 11 in order to register February 25, 2013.

The philosophy behind our Day Camp Programs is to provide a safe nurturing environment offering activities designed to enhance the physical, social, educational, and moral well-being of the children in our area while stressing the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in all activities. Overall, we want the children to simply have FUN, and to develop lasting friendships.
