Often called physical chess, fencing is a sport that exercises both the body and the mind. This class will introduce the basic concepts of fencing épée to kids aged 8-12. Weapons, jackets and masks will be provided, but students must have durable athletic pants and their own fencing gloves. The class will be taught by Coach Matt. With over 20 years of fencing experience, he has trained fencers at Cornell, UVA, ASU and other fencing clubs across the country. He is now excited to help a new generation learn to love the sport of fencing here at the Y!

The Y Dodgeball Tournament Details
Welcome to year 13 of the State College YMCA’s Annual Dodgeball Tournament. This tournament is open to local and traveling teams. Teams are made of 6-8 players, with 6 on the court to begin each game. The event will start with pool play where each team will play every other team in their division. The top teams from each pool advance to a single or double elimination Championship tournament while the mid-pack finishing teams will enter the Average Joe’s tournament. Teams playing in the Championship tournament will be competing for dodgeball champs shirts and a massive 3-4 foot trophy. The Ave. Joe’s tournament, we’ll find something for the winners… All proceeds benefit the YMCA of Centre County’s Annual Giving Campaign which helps with our Open Doors program that makes sure that no one is turned away from the Y due to financial reasons.
