AMERICAN RED CROSS CPR, AED AND FIRST AID TRAINING
This course will training and testing for the American Red Cross certifications in Adult, Child and Infant CPR, use of the AED, and Standard First Aid. Successful completion of the course will result in a two year certification. This class is offered in the blended learning format

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING CLASS
New or expired candidates for an American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must take the ARC Lifeguarding course in full. This course covers American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Pro certifications. Attendance is required during all days of the class. Participants must pass all prerequisite swim tests, demonstrate all skills and pass written and online tests to earn certification.

LIFEGUARDING CLASS INTRO
***COVID-19 SAFETY UPDATE***
A lifeguarding course is a certification which cannot be run without participants being in close proximity with regular direct contact. If you are not comfortable in a class running with close contact under these conditions, please do not sign up for our lifeguarding classes.
Prior to Day 1: You will need to complete the online portion prior to the second in-person class.
Day 1 (Usually a Friday night between 5pm and 9pm): Prerequisite swim, Entries
Participants will need to successfully complete the swimming prerequisites for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course (see below) to continue in the course beyond this day. You will need to swim 300 yards continuously with a minimum 100 yards each of front crawl (freestyle with face in water and rotational breathing) and breast stroke, tread water with no hands for 2 minutes and complete a timed brick retrieval test. If you are concerned about your ability to pass this test, you may contact your instructor (email below) and request a private test time, where we may be able to assist with skills you are struggling with. You MUST pass the swim test to continue with the class.
Day 2 (Usually a Sunday between 9am and 5pm): Approaches, Recoveries, Extrications, Backboarding
Day 3 (Usually a Sunday between 9am and 5pm): CPR review, Spineboarding, Review, Testing

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD RE-CERTIFICATION TRAINING
Re-certify current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Pro certifications. Attendance is required during scheduled days of the class, and there will be required online viewing of course content. Participants will need to bring proof of current certification the first day to be allowed to participate in the course, and must pass all prerequisite swim tests, demonstrate all skills and pass both written tests to earn re-certification. Cost of the class is $100 for YMCA members and 125 for non-members. Certification is valid for 2 years.
