The YMCA swim lesson program is centered on five main components: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water sports and games, and rescue. The emphasis is on progressive learning, using a student-centered and developmentally appropriate approach to teaching. Our goal is to help children build confidence and skills through positive reinforcement promoting life-long health and fitness.

Parents also learn essential skills in Swim Starters. Close supervision is the best way to prevent drowning. Parents learn how to supervise children in the water, how to prevent accidents, and how to plan for emergencies. | |
