YMCA Open Rock Climbing Policies
**Open Rock Climbing participants, please make note of the following changes to climbing operations:
- You or someone with you must be certified to belay to participate in open climbing.
- In order to facilitate these changes, the YMCA will provide FREE belay certification training during Open Climbing Sessions at the times listed below:
- Thursday @ 8:15pm
- Friday @ 7:15pm
- Please see a volunteer climbing instructor to sign-up for FREE belay training.
- Only Belay Certifications from the State College Rock Wall will be accepted.
Questions? Contact Josh Cone, Healthy Living Director
**Not Belay Certified? Come to one of our Open Climbing times and talk with one of the volunteer climbing instructors. They will fill you in on when they will be able to have a class either that evening or during the next climbing time. The YMCA of Centre County has their own belay certification test to ensure that all belayers and climbers are safe when using the rock wall. Only our certification will be accepted when using the YMCA’s rock wall.
