American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid
These courses are designed for anyone who is interested in learning or renewing their lifesaving skills. The CPR/AED/First Aid course is for any initial responders who need to know adult and pediatric CPR, use of an AED and first aid. This course is NOT appropriate for professional rescuers or health care providers. IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE CONTACT BETWEEN PARTICIPANTS CLASSES ARE BLENDED LEARNING – YOU MUST COMPLETE ONLINE CONTENT PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE IN-PERSON SESSIONS LISTED BELOW. Class size is limited to maintain social distancing and masks are required. Participants will need to complete in-class practical skill demonstration as well as online learning and testing to earn a two year certification. Register HERE.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class
New or expired candidates for an American Red Cross lifeguarding certification must take the ARC Lifeguarding course in full. This course covers American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Pro certifications. Attendance is required during all days of the class. Participants must pass all prerequisite swim tests, demonstrate all skills and pass written and online tests to earn certification. Cost of the course increases as summer gets closer, commit now! Certification is valid for two years.
The 2021 courses will be blended learning courses with portions of the class completed online. When you register, select the dates of the class when you will be doing all of your in-person pool and skills instruction and testing. After registering online, your browser will be redirected to an introductory page for the class, which includes links to the lifeguarding manual, lifeguarding course online content, and a video outlining the prerequisite swimming skills required to take the course. You will need to complete the online course content BEFORE attending the in-person sessions for the dates for which you registered. You will be on your own to complete the online portion of the class before the in-person session that you sign up for.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Re-certification Training
Re-certify current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Pro certifications. Attendance is required during scheduled days of the class, and there will be required online viewing of course content. Participants will need to bring proof of current certification the first day to be allowed to participate in the course, and must pass all prerequisite swim tests, demonstrate all skills and pass both written tests to earn re-certification. Cost of the class is $100 for members, $125 for non-members, certification is valid for 2 years.

Babysitting Safety Course
This interactive course trains sitters to prevent emergencies through proper safety planning and gain knowledge if an emergency should occur. During this training, each participant will be Red Cross certified in First Aid. This course is designed for ages 11-16 years old. Cost for YMCA of Centre County members is $60, for non-members $70.
COVID-19 Safety Measures:
- Babysitting Safety Courses will be run at 50% capacity, 8 students per class.
- Each student will receive their own disinfected infant and adult manikin.
- Students will be socially distanced during each class, only two students per table.
- Masks must always be worn during class, except when performing rescue breathing exercises and during lunchtime.
- Students must bring their own bagged lunch and water bottle.
- Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes will be available during each course.
- Masks are required in all common areas of the YMCA.
- All patrons entering the YMCA must sanitize hands upon entry.
