“The Black Moshannon 5k/10k and fun walk was started in 1980 by Mary Ann Williams. As a very good runner herself, she directed the race for 25 years. Runners from all over Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, New York, and other states have a history of showing up in the beautiful Black Moshannon State Park every Memorial Day Weekend. After Mary Ann’s retirement from coordinating the race, the reigns were handed over to, the one and only, Dave Caslow. With Dave’s guidance, the race has continued to grow and has helped raise money to support the YMCA of Centre County and the local community. The event started as a run but has become a great Saturday morning kickoff to the Memorial Day Holiday for the entire family.”
Race day check-in starts at 7AM under the pavilion at the corner of Concession Rd & Black Moshannon Rd. The 5k starts at 8AM and 10k starts at 9AM sharp… (Ok let’s be honest. It’s a Coach Caslow’s start time. Which if you’ve participated in any of our past races, means we’ll get to the race by lunch time. =-)) The 5k race start line will be at the corner of Black Moshannon Rd & Westside Rd. The 10k start line if across the bridge on Black Moshannon road at the end of the parking lot next to the beach area. Maps of both courses are linked below. Races take place on different roads and only within the last 100 yards to the finish, do they intersect. Both events are professionally timed by Integrity Sports. Past results are linked below.
